In the Western corporate media, we see no lack of speculation about the mental stability of Russian President Vladimir Putin and talk of his desperation while failing to achieve his goals. They pull mental health experts onto the public stage to give their audience medical jargon to justify the demonization of the rival to Western hegemony. It doesn’t seem to matter whether he is following his interests as a head of state or not: We are told he is just maniacal.
We are also told that his military is sustaining heavy casualties and heavy loss of equipment, logistical supplies, and weapons. We are told that Russia is losing this war, and losing it so badly that it is fueling the supposed madness that is leading Putin down the path to political suicide. But what if we look at the war itself to see who is winning? Why don’t we see what the conditions on the ground and reports of casualties and losses actually say about the operations the Russian armed forces are pursuing? Let’s take a few aspects of the situation one by one to see what insights they can bring to bear upon our outlook.
Russia doesn’t lose territory unless they allow the Kyiv Regime to return to territory lost to Russia. In the area above Kherson called Nikolaiv, for example, the Russian armed forces are not losing ground when the Kyiv Regime attacks them. There has been no ability of Kyiv to retake territory that was lost while Russia is preparing to aim for Nikolaiv, Odessa, and beyond. Russia has also been able to keep all the territory they conquered in the Donbass as well as retain an ability to operate around Kharkov. Do you see them losing territory to Kyiven counterattacks? No. Russia just decides to modify their strategy to destroy the military of Ukraine more effectively than they were doing before.
Ukraine has already lost most of their equipment and supplies while Russia still has the reinforcements of a Great Power, able to inflict damage on a few fronts. They continue to pummel Ukraine from the south, east, and north and still have all of the reinforcements they need to continue their military operations. This is in contrast to Kyiv, which has lost most of their fighting vehicles, is running out of rockets, and lost a great bulk, if not most, of their communications, signal, and missile systems to Russia’s objectives of destroying the military of Ukraine. This is a strategic loss that would cost tens if not hundreds of billions of dollars on the part of the West to replace and repair, not to mention all of the destruction of facilities that have both civilian and military uses.
Russia also retains an ability to project power in multiple wars theaters of war. When we look at how Russia outnumbers NATO forces ten to one in the Baltic, as well as their ability to control the Arctic, protect ports in the Far East, and maintain their sphere of control in Central Asia, there is no doubt that Russia continues maintain its national security interests wherever it needs. Putin and the rest of his government have no need to fear losing grip over other areas of Russian national concern.
And lastly, if not most importantly, we can see that the West is losing more by waging their war upon Russia than Russia is losing by pursuing their national security goals in Ukraine. The Dollar is losing ground against the Ruble and the Chinese Yuan as a currency of international reserve and trade, and Russia and their partners have the resources they need to continue developing their economies and building their militaries. We can see how India continues to buy Russian technology and raw earth materials, and will probably buy Russian food as well. We can see how China continues to have perfectly routine transactions with Russia. And we can see how Brazil will not shun Russia. We just took ourselves out of the beneficiaries of Russian resources while threatening our own currency.
As you can see, if we look beyond the sensationalist headlines of our own Western corporate media, we can see the bedrock truth that we are losing while Russia is gaining. Russia retains room to maneuver, and Putin knows that the West is not going to risk a whole lot more damage to themselves, lest our own economies and security interests be threatened by our increased involvement in the war. We need to stop shooting ourselves in the foot. Now is the time to rethink our absolute disregard for Russian interests.
Your amazing, thanks for telling the truth
Thanks! I disagree about shooting ourselves in the foot - yes, we 'need' to stop this, but I don't see any indication that we will. We still have the other foot, legs, thighs, and, god forbid torso and head. Sanity won't return without serious pain and, perhaps utter defeat.
